Bach’s Ich hatte viel Bekümmernis, BWV 21 was composed for various occasions between 1713 and 1714; with nearly every performance it was expanded by additional movements. On the album, this cantata is preceded and followed by two exquisite arias also composed by Bach. Daniel Taylor, Cassandra Lemoine, Rosa Lamoreaux, Benjamin Butterfield, William Sharp and The Bach Festival Orchestra are also featured on this album.
