Praised for her "mellifluous, round sound“, "real comedic talent“ (Der Neue Merker), "fine articulation" and "compelling luminosity“ (drehpunktkultur) Hungarian mezzo soprano, Zsófia Mózer completed her master degree in opera performance at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in 2020 in the opera class of conductor Kai Röhrig and director Karoline Gruber, and in the vocal class of Elisabeth Wilke. During the last year of her studies she was already a member of the Salzburg State Theaters’ international opera studio “Gérard Mortier“ where her roles included Dorothea (Donizetti: Viva la Mamma), Edelknaben (Wagner: Lohengrin), Fatima and Meermädchen (Weber: Oberon), and Daisy in Stuart MacRae’s contemporary opera, Anthropocene. Along with several of her upcoming projects, Anthropocene also got cancelled due to COVID-19. Zsófia has great passion for acting and embodying different, extreme characters on stage, and has had the opportunity to perform numerous roles, including Dorabella, Bastien, Lisetta (Haydn: Il Mondo della Luna), Hermia (Britten: A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Grisostomo and Pedrillo (Telemann: Don Quichotte auf der Hochzeit des Comacho), and a staged version of Arnold Schönberg’s Pierrot Lunaire. Regularly appearing as a concert singer, she sang the alto solo in numerous oratorios; amongst many others, in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, Mozart’s Requiem, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and she has a strong interest in Lied interpretation too. Keen on always improving and developing her art, Zsófia participated in various master classes; amongst others with Felicity Lott, Kobie van Rensburg, Andrew Watts, Tobias Hasan, Sebastian F. Schwarz, Stephen Morscheck, Peter Berne and György Vashegyi, and has worked with renowned conductor and stage directors, such as Adrian Kelly, Ido Arad, Leslie Suganandarajah, Kai Röhrig, Josef Wallnig, Karoline Gruber, Steven Medcalf, Christian Poewe, Andreas Gergen and Roland Schwab. Other important musical influences and teachers have been Boldizsár Keönch, Annamária Schmiedt, Katia Borissova, Chariklia Apostolu, Lenka Hebr and Stefan Müller.
