Mottetto isoritmico a 2 voci e 2 tenor strumentali Il mottetto "Nuper rosarum flores", composto da Guillame Dufay tra la fine del 1435 e l'inizio del 1436, è costruito sul "Tenor" gregoriano "Terribilis est locus iste". Il mottetto rappresenta uno dei tipici esempi di musica fiamminga costruita su rigidi schemi geometrici, fondati su relazioni numeriche predeterminate. È tuttora dubbio se le relazioni numeriche usate da Dufay siano indipendenti o desunte direttamente da quelle delle proporzioni della Cattedrale fiorentina (o, magari, da quelle della cupola del Brunelleschi). Quel che è certa è la sequenza numerica che sta alla base della strutturazione complessiva del brano che, sinteticamente, si articola in quattro sezioni le cui durate corrispondono ad una sequenza 6-4-2-3. La prima esecuzione del mottetto è stata effettuata durante la celebrazione di consacrazione della Cattedrale di Firenze dedicata a Santa Maria del Fiore, avvenuta il 25 marzo 1436 per opera di Papa Eugenio IV. The motet "Nuper rosarum flores", composed by Guillaume Dufay between late 1435 and early 1436, it is built on Gregorian "Tenor" "Terribilis est locus iste". The motet is one of the typical examples of Flemish music built on rigid geometric patterns, based on predetermined numerical relationships. It is still uncertain whether the numerical relationships used by Dufay are independent or are derived directly from those of the proportions of the Cathedral of Florence (or, perhaps, by those of Brunelleschi's dome). What is certain is the sequence of numbers is the basis of the overall structure of the song, briefly, is divided into four sections, whose durations correspond to a sequence 6-4-2-3.
