Also coming up are recordings of Schumann with bass-baritone Florian Boesch (Dichterliebe and Kerner Lieder), as well as a Wolf disc with baritone Simon Keenlyside, committing to disc song that they have sone all their lives, something which it is lovely to do. Beautiful Music in Beatiful Places: Lammermuir Festival returns with live audiences
[…] the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in two Mozart piano concertos. Scottish Opera makes its fourth visit to the festival with a young cast in a lightly staged version of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte. Wolf's Italian Songbook is being presented in a semi-staging whilst Iain Burnside's dramatic exploration of Wagner's Wesendonck Lieder, The View from the Villa is also being staged. There are song recitals from Robert Murray and Alisdair Hogarth, James Atkinson and Sholto Kynoch, Catriona Morison and Malcolm Martineau, and Mary Bevan and Joseph Middleton, plus Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde in Schoenberg’s chamber version. High ambitions: Edinburgh International Festival's classical music programme for 2021

Röschmann was due to make her debut in the role at Hamburg State Opera part of the singer's careful move into bigger repertoire, but the Hamburg production was cancelled and similarly, David Butt Philip is gradually moving into heavier roles. Scottish mezzo-soprano Catriona Morison will be the Composer, again singing a role she was supposed to debut at a cancelled production (at Stuttgart this time). Zerbinetta is Brenda Rae, singing one of her signature roles, whilst Thomas Quasthoff, who has been looking to add more speaking roles to his repertoire, will be the Major Domo.
