As most music lovers know, this year we are celebrating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth. And certainly the market will be filled with amazing offerings of recorded performances. Today we have for you a new recording of: Beethoven: Symphony No. 9 & Choral Fantasy Artists: Christiana Karg (soprano), Sophie Harmsen (mezzo), Werner Güra (tenor), Florian Boesch (baritone), Kristian Bezuidenhout (fortepiano) Freiburger Barockorchester, Zürcher Sing-Akademie, Pablo Heras-Casado. The Sunday Times wrote about this recording that: “the intricate, incisive rhythms, the clarity that makes Beethoven’s revolutionary scoring endlessly startling (thrillingly prominent horns and bassoons), and the inspired soloists and chorus…” Here

Freiburger Barockorchester, Heras-Casado : Beethoven Choral Fantasy and Symphony no 9
Beethoven Symphony no 9 "Choral" with in D minor, Op. 125, and the Choral Fantasy in C minor op 80 with soloist Christian Bezuidenhout, Pablo Heras-Casado conducting the Freiburger Barockorchester, new from Harmonia Mundi. Perhaps it says something about the stamina of modern audiences that some could not understand the ambitious scale of the programme. The Choral Fantasy is in many ways the embryo of Beethoven's Symphony no 9, now an anthem of hope and unity, all over the world.Although […]
