Happy Thanksgiving from the WXXI family!
It takes a village to eat all the leftovers. That's according to an informal survey of WXXI hosts and friends. Need fresh ideas for your holiday? Taste and see. Fried Oysters This recipe comes from awesome WXXI volunteer and singer Eric Logan. Start with "canned" fresh shucked oysters (usually 3 - 8 oz. containers or 2-16 oz. containers (lots of oysters!) rinsed and placed in a beaten mixture of 2-3 eggs and a little milk and seasoned with salt, pepper and a "pinch" of Old Bay seasoning. In a large freezer bag, mix corn meal and flour in equal parts and season with Salt, Pepper, Old Bay, and a bit of Max Spice or cayenne pepper. Hand drain the oysters one at a time and place in the bag and shake it up and move it into a deep Fryer filled with vegetable and peanut oil heated to frying temps […]

Fast forward 10 years and our girl Roz began to notice that since she’s turned 40 her film offers are thin on the ground and thought it was time to take her show on the road. So sometime after honing her skills in a smash road company tour of John Van Druten’s Bell, Book and Candle, Ms. Russell was approached by producer Bobby Fryer and Joe Fields to star in a proposed musical adaptation of Eileen. Having secured the intent of none other than George Abbott to direct they all attended an audition of the score by Leroy Anderson and Arnold B. Horwitt which was found so seriously wanting that the two gentlemen were promptly paid and sent packing.
