If Italian, German, French, Russian and Czech have become mainstream languages in English opera audiences, then there is no reason to avoid Croatian operas from any respectable Opera company. To mark this as the first post in this blog, I have linked the song ‘Domovini i Ljubavi’ (To the Homeland and to Love) written by Ivan pl. Zajc (1832-1914), with text by Ilija Okrugić (1827 – 1897), and sung by the famous Croatian Spinto-Soprano Zinka Milanov. (Note: The title of this song is in the Genitive (Indirect object) on the subject of Homeland and Love.
