Soundtrack for a porn movie
"No, you have not landed on Slipped Disc by mistake. Respected electronic music pioneer Klaus Schulze tells the story himself. The origins of "Body Love" are quite funny. I received a call from a movie producer named Manfred Menz and I wound up becoming his principal composer for a period of time. Amongst others, I composed the "Barracuda" soundtrack for him [1978, previously unreleased on album]. This led to a friendship which lasts till today. Menz now lives in Malibu, California where I visited him a couple of years ago. Anyway, this guy calls me and asks if I would compose the score to a porn movie. I said: "Porn? Nah, I don't do that kind of thing". Norfolk-based arts writer, Tony Cooper, enjoys a musical heritage tour to Leipzig, a relaxing and inviting city to visit awash with so much musical history.

The staging by Ilaria Lanzino truly hit the mark, Annette Braun’s costumes proved an interesting mix of traditional and contemporary styles, Steffo Jennerich lighting invoked the dark and mysterious side to the overall stage action while Dirk Becker’s sets were amazingly constructed by found materials from an appeal for local citizens to offer the production their unwanted furnishings. A massive collection of tables of all shapes and sizes turned up thus forming the basis of the main set unevenly perched on a massive revolving stage. ‘We […]

[…] / Enrico Nawrath)As an aside, the first production I saw of Tannhäuser was by Carl Rosa at Norwich Theatre Royal in 1958. My first Wagnerian and, indeed, one of my first opera experiences. Therefore, if Tannhäuser was one of Wagner’s favourites, it’s certainly one of mine, too. The opera simply hooked me on Wagner. Full stop!
