2022 winners announced for Garsington Opera's awards for young artists
Garsington Opera 2022 awards winners (Photo Julian Guidera)John Findon, Polly Leech, Ellie de Jongh, Frazer ScottWe caught tenor John Findon at Garsington Opera last month when he played the role of the Prince in Rusalka, covering for Gerard Schneider [see my review]. Findon impressed greatly in what was his role debut and so it is no surprise that he was awarded the Leonard Ingrams Award in Garsington Opera's recent announcement of its 2022 awards to young artists. The other recipient of a Leonard Ingrams Award is mezzo-soprano Polly Leech who played Dorabella in the revival of John Cox's production of Mozart's Cosi fan tutte.Two Alvarez Young Artists also received awards. Frazer Scott received the Helen Clarke Award; he played the role of Caronte in Monteverdi's Orfeo, was the understudy for the role of Harry in Roxanna Panufnik's Dalia, and was a member of the ensemble.
