Jaques Brel - love, life and crimes against humanity
In an anniversary tribute to Jacques Brel, who died on Oct 9th, 1978, Norman Lebrecht describes Brel as "Belgium’s greatest contribution to humanity". Pub landlord pays £6,600 for Churchill’s cigar-box violin
Gerry O’Brien, general manager of The Churchill Arms in Kensington, handed over six grand plus commission for a William Robinson violin made from Winston Churchill’s cigar boxes and once played by Yehudi Menuhin. Michigan sends organist to Notre-Dame de Paris
Vincent Dubois, artist in resident at the University of Michigan, has been named organist of Notre-Dame in Paris, succeeding Jean-Pierre Leguay, who retired at the end of last year. Our chers confrères at resmusica note that Vincent, 35, will join Olivier Latry and Philippe Lefebvre at the seat of the grand orgue.
