Iván Fischer Enescu Bartók Mahler 4 Prom 54
Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra, BBC Prom 54 at the Royal Albert Hall with Enescu, Bartók and Mahler with Anna Lucia Richter as soloist. A provocative start to the programme with just the first movement (of 4) from George Enescu's Suite for Orchestra op 9 (1903), marked "Prélude à l'unisson". (On a side note, I also may have been aware that one of the members happens to be in one of my favourite bands who I’ve seen live a fair few times, so I had it on good authority that the performance would be wonderful anyway.) After a brief stop at Hache in Camden (no gig night is complete without a delicious stop-off beforehand!) we arrived at Cecil Sharp House on a cold and slightly […]
