Mims writes: W, On my classical music program on WHPK-FM I will be broadcasting on Tuesday, June 1 the acclaimed 1979 DGG recording of Verdi's Requiem conducted by Claudio Abbado with the legendary Shirley Verrett, Katia Ricciarelli, Nicolai Ghiaurov and Placido Domingo and the Chorus and Orchestra of the La Scala Opera Milan. As always my show can be heard every Tuesday on WHPK-FM Chicago from 12 Noon to 3PM (CDT) locally on 88.5 FM and worldwide livestream on the station's website on whpk.org Later this summer I will also be broadcasting Claudio Abbado's DGG recording of Verdi's opera Macbeth also with Shirley Verrett in what has been considered one of her greatest recorded performances.
