After attending six festivals, Bovet was inspired to write the Manila Orgelbüchlein (“Little Organ Book”), with organ accompaniments for 26 popular Tagalog hymns. On the festival night, he played a set of pieces in the Bamboo Organ and another set in the brass organ, and was later honored with a certificate by the Executive Director, Leo Renier. Bovet played some of J. S. Bach’s masterpieces including the famous cantata of the Baroque period, the “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” and other more elaborate symphonies. Bach and Beyond - Cornelia Hermann in recital for JIMF

There are four concerts scheduled for Northwards as part of the Johannesburg International Music Festival in 2013, the first of which is the topic of this article. On 31 January there is a Song Recital featuring Cornelia Herrmann and Florian Uhlig on piano with Nombuso Ndlandla (soprano), Andiswa Makana (mezzo soprano), Christoph Genz (tenor) and Renier Schneider-Waterberg (baritone) performing works by Brahms and Schumann. On 4 February Ruth Waterman will perform an Exploration Concert using the music of Bach. Waterman is a violinist. The final recital at Northwards takes place on 6 February and is a piano recital featuring Eric Le Sage playing works by Schumann and Debussy.
