Discovering Lieder - Leeds Lieder 2023 (Photo: Ed Robinson)Leeds Lieder is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year whilst co-incidentally, artistic director Joseph Middleton also celebrates 10 years in post. This year's Leeds Lieder Festival, On Wings of Song, runs from 13 to 21 April 2024 with around 30 events at venues as diverse as the Howard Assembly Room, Leeds Conservatoire, Leeds Minster, Pudsey Town Hall, the Hyde Park Book Club and the Sikh Centre.Joseph Middleton, artistic director of Leeds LiederJoseph explains that quite a lot has changed over the years. The festival began as a biennial event, with a guest artistic director, and lasted two or three days. Encouraging experimentation and innovation: Aberystwyth University's new hub for emerging composers, CERDDWN

The project aims to create a hub for musical experimentation and innovation in mid-Wales by connecting up-and-coming composers with orchestral musicians, allowing them to test out experimental concepts, and hone their music-making skills.Following an open call for applications, four emerging composers have now been selected and presented with a bursary.
