The Met has just announced its 2017-18 trainees on the Lindemann program. They are: Kidon Choi, baritone (South Korea); Emily D’Angelo, mezzo-soprano (Canada); Gabriella Reyes de Ramírez, soprano (US); Nate Raskin, pianist/coach (US, pictured)) and Adrian Timpau, baritone (Moldova). Returning to the program are Michelle Bradley, soprano; Rihab Chaieb, mezzo-soprano; Zalman Kelber, coach/pianist; Ian Koziara, tenor; David Leigh, bass; Petr Nekoranec, tenor; Hyesang Park, soprano; Valeriya Polunina, coach/pianist; and Kang Wang, tenor.

From up close, the miked opera singer can be a bit tough to take. Awkward out of her comfort zone and used to throwing her voice forward, she must scale back her sound and sauce it up in just the right places.
