The audience should expect a virtuosic performance coupled with a traditional feel not often heard but always resonating. This special concert will feature Gypsy music favourites and some of the most moving music ever conceived such as the classic Russian romantic ballad Dark Eyes and Gloomy Sunday (also known as The Hungarian Suicide Song) composed by Hungarian pianist and composer Rezső Seress and published in 1933. The original lyrics were about the despair caused by war, and the song ends in a quiet prayer. It became well-known throughout much of the English-speaking world after the release of a version by Billie Holiday in 1941.
