Classical Music News of the Week, November 6, 2021
[…] announces a new mixed-media art exhibition, “AloneTogether,” debuting at High Line Nine in NYC’s Chelsea Art District on Thursday, November 18 and running through Sunday, December 19. “AloneTogether” is a musical journey that explores the impact on today’s young people of this time of global turmoil and transformation. The installation features newly commissioned pieces created by 15 of the world’s leading composers including Aneesa Folds, recently featured in the NY Times, Cibo Matto's Yuka C. Honda, National Medal of the Arts and Grammy Award winner Paquito Rivera, Pulitzer Prize winner David Lang and many more, woven together through film by documentarian Ansley Sawyer. It also includes video art featuring individual choristers reciting their own poetry during a time of incredible transformation and upheaval. The installation will run from November 18 through December 19, Wednesdays through Sundays, with live events featuring world premieres (some with the composers themselves) to be announced […]
