This is another in our “Introducing” series in which we show you young instrumentalists with great promise. Anuschka Pedano now studies with Julia Dinerstein at the Young Talent Academy of the Hellendaal Institute/ Conservatory of Rotterdam. She has taken part in masterclasses by Michael Kugel, Dana Zemtsov, Mikhail Zemtsov and Alexander Zemtsov, Jürgen Kussmaul, Alexander Pavlovsky, Orfeo Mandozzi and members of the Emerson String Quartet. Anuschka has received 1st prizes at multiple competitions among which the Britten Viola Concours (2015), and the international competition “Concours Européen pour jeunes solistes” (2015). If there were slight frustration in my only being able to hear the first, it surely augured well for the second, which I look forward to hearing about, if not, alas, to hearing. The particular, sometimes competing demands of early Bartók can prove difficult to bring off: no such problem here, in as fine a performance of the First Quartet (1908-9) as I can recall hearing.
