2024 sees the Northern Aldborough Festival marking its 30th year presenting music in the picturesque village of Aldborough near York. This year the festival runs from 13 June to 22 June 2024. The festival opens with a focus on young artists as 25-year-old Tom Fetherstonehaugh conducts Fantasia Orchestra, (made up of the UK’s most exciting young musicians), alongside pianist Alim Beisembayev, who at 23 won the last Leeds Piano Competition, performing Tchaikovsky and Chopin.Other highlights include the Armonico Consort bringing its semi-staged production of Purcell's The Fairy Queen, the Julian Joseph Trio, violinist Viktoria Mullova with pianist Alasdair Beatson, and of course the festival's New Voices Singing Competition. Would they live up to that same high standard? Read on…The words here on this album are the Violin Sonata In A Major, D. 574 (Op. 162), apparently composed in 1817; the Fantasie In C Major, D. 934 (Op.159) from December of 1827; and the Rondo In B Minor, D. 895 (Op. 70) from late 1826.
