We play to transform the world: Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra in Madrid
Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra with Nicola Benedetti in Birmingham in 2019 (Photo Ivan Gonzalez)On Thursday (14 July 2022), more than 140 young musicians from 17 European countries will take to the stage at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid as part of Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra (SEYO). The orchestra will be conducted by four conductors, Ron Davis Alvarez, Lara Diloy, José Ángel Salazar, and Jhoanna Sierralta, in a programme of Bach, Sibelius, Holst and Mussorgsky.The concert is the culmination of the orchestra's sixth Summer residency, taking place in Madrid this year, where 140 young musicians aged between 12 and 20, and their teachers from different parts of the continent all meet up. American Composers Orchestra Presents Two Composer SpotlightsAmerican Composers Orchestra (ACO) presents two online Composer Spotlights events for the Toulmin Orchestral Commissions Program at 3pm ET on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 and Wednesday, July 7, 2021, streaming live on YouTube and Facebook. On Thursday, June 24, 2021 at 6pm, ACO will host an online Listening Party via Zoom with ACO Artistic Director Derek Bermel and special guest composers John Adams, Laurie Anderson, Eugene Moye, and Melinda Wagner. Advance registration is required for the Listening Party; advance registration is recommended for the Composer Spotlights. Celebrating their centenary - Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra
Oslo Concert Hall, home to the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra The Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra is 100 in 2019, and the orchestra and its chief conductor Vasily Petrenko are spreading the celebrations with tours to Spain and the UK. The orchestra's programme for the UK tour in March 2019 includes Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No.3 and Symphony No.1, Delius’s On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring, Grieg’s Piano Concerto and Sibelius’s Symphony No.5, with Nikolai Lugansky as the soloist in the two concertos. Kate recently enjoyed great success singing the pivotal role of Lady Macbeth in the new Elijah Moshinsky production at the Buxton Festival conducted by Stephen Barlow.
