The year 1857 in classical music and in lyrical art
1857. With other artists, Giacomo Meyerbeer, Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt influenced their time (romantic era). That year would see the birth of future classical or lyrical artists, such as Edward Elgar, while others would disappear. That year, new works would be composed, published or performed for the first time in public, such as “Tristan and Isolde” de Richard Wagner, for example. That year, halls or orchestras would be founded or ceased to operate.
