We hope you enjoy the first episode of our guest artist series, featuring Pierce Wang and Charlotte Wong! - Pierce Wang, Violin I Pierce Wang is a rising senior at Stanford Online High School and a scholarship student in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) Pre-college where he studies the violin with Ms. Alena Tsoi. Pierce gave his first solo recital when he was 10 years old, the “All Saints’ Day” program. In the same year, Pierce was selected to appear on the NPR, From the Top (FTT) live taping show #284 in Rochester (NY). Pierce has since soloed with several orchestras in the Bay Area including the Fremont Symphony Orchestra and Saratoga Symphony (under Dr./Maestro Jason Klein), Symphony Parnassus (Maestro Stephen Paulson), Sonoma County Philharmonic, and Solano Symphony (Maestro Semyon Lohss), performing violin concertos by Conus, Saint Saens, and Prokofiev. Pierce also gives performances at fund-raisers and local nursing homes in order to give back to the community. - Charlotte Wong, Piano Charlotte Wong, 17, is a rising freshman at UC Berkeley majoring in microbial biology and bioengineering. A recent graduate of the pre-college program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she has studied with Professor Corey McVicar since 2015 and began her piano studies at the age of five. A 2020 National YoungArts Foundation Merit winner, she has received prizes in various competitions and has been invited to perform in Poland and Chicago. In 2018, Charlotte was featured in the Live From Here variety show aired on NPR, performing at the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. During the summer of 2019, Charlotte participated in the Cliburn International Junior Piano Competition and Festival, Music@Menlo Chamber Music Institute, and the Southeastern Piano Festival. Caso tenha interesse em utilizá-la comercialmente, favor entrar em contato com a família de Frank Justo Acker através do e-mail: •••@••• Gravação inédita de Guiomar Novaes interpretando a Sonata No.32 (Op.111), de Beethoven, em recital na Sala Cecília Meireles no dia 4/11/1967, como parte da série "Panorama do Piano Brasileiro", que contou com recitais de 9 pianistas brasileiros: Yara Bernette, Guiomar Novaes, Anna Stella Schic, Ivy Improta, Arnaldo Estrella, Roberto Szidon, Arthur Moreira Lima, Nelson Freire e Jacques Klein. Esta é a primeira gravação de que se tem notícia de Guiomar tocando esta sonata ao vivo, e complementa de maneira notável a gravação comercial que a pianista realizou desta obra em estúdio neste mesmo ano de 1967. Previously unreleased recording of Guiomar Novaes playing Beethoven's Andante favori in a recital at Sala Cecilia Meireles in November 4th, 1967, as part of the series "Panorama do Piano Brasileiro" [Brazilian Piano Panorama], which featured recitals by 9 Brazilian pianists: Yara Bernette, Guiomar Novaes, Anna Stella Schic, Ivy Improta, Arnaldo Estrella, Roberto Szidon, Arthur Moreira Lima, Nelson Freire and Jacques Klein. This is the first recording that has surfaced of Guiomar playing this sonata live, and it complements in a remarkable way the historical commercial studio recording she did of this sonata in that same year orf 1967.
