In celebration of American mezzo soprano Michelle DeYoung's recent birthday (10/24), join "Across the Arts" host Patrick D. McCoy for this encore presentation (2012) THE OPERA DIVA SERIES returns with internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano, Michelle DeYoung. On this occasion, Ms. De Young performed with Washington Concert Opera in Saint-Saens' Samson et Dalila. Michelle DeYoung has already established herself as one of the most exciting artists of her generation. She has appeared with many of the world's leading orchestras. Ms. DeYoung has also appeared with many of the finest opera houses of the world including the Metropolitan Opera.

"Pronta io son" from Gaetano Donizetti's "Don Pasquale" Featuring Mark Wilkinson, baritone Canadian baritone Mark Wilkinson is active as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician across North America. He made his professional début with the Edmonton Symphony and the Richard Eaton Singers in 2012, and his national CBC Radio 2 début came one year later with the King’s College Chapel Choir under Paul Halley. His international festival appearances include the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, the Early Music Festival of Alberta, Music and Beyond, and the Ottawa Writer’s Festival (alongside Margaret Atwood). His gifts as a chamber musician have taken him through much of the string quartet and small ensemble repertoire with voice, and his voice-piano recital repertoire spans Bach to world-premiere compositions, with a particular focus on French mélodie. His opera roles include Adonis, Aeneas, Count Almaviva, Figaro, Malatesta, and Escamillo, among others. This proudly French-speaking native of Ontario holds diplomas from the University of Ottawa, the University of Alberta, and the Franz Schubert Institute. As of March 2019, he is currently a doctoral candidate in voice and vocal health at The Ohio State University, under the guidance of Dr. Scott McCoy and the gracious support of a Distinguished University Fellowship.
