He has since appeared in the major music centres of Europe, North America, and Japan and has performed with such prestigious ensembles as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony, the Camerata Salzburg, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Chicago Symphony, the English Chamber Orchestra, the London Philharmonic, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Mahler Jugendorchester, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic, the La Scala Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, the Wiener Symphoniker, the Wiener Philharmoniker. Conductors with whom he has collaborated include Claudio Abbado, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Myung-Whun Chung, Valery Gergiev, Daniel Harding, Riccardo Muti, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Metha, Yuri Temirkanov e Mstislav Rostropovich, among others. Cascioli has performed chamber music with Mstislav Rostropovich, Yuri Bashmet, Maxim Vengerov, Frank Peter Zimmermann, Clemens Hagen, Sabine Meyer. Cascioli records for Decca and Deutsche Grammophon. Gianluca Cascioli studied composition at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Torino with Alessandro Ruo Rui and later with Alberto Colla. Cascioli' s compositions have been performed in important venues such as the Musikhalle (Hamburg), Wigmore Hall (London), and Palau de la Musica (Barcellona). In 2009 Cascioli was awarded 2nd Prize at the 27th International I.C.O.M.S. Competition for Composers with his first Trio for violin, cello and piano. In 2010 Cascioli was awarded 1st Prize at the 28th International I.C.O.M.S. Competition for Composers with his Tre pezzi liriciper violino e pianoforte. In 2010 Cascioli's Fantasy for piano and orchestra was awarded the Mozart-Prize from the Jury of the 16th International Competition "2 Agosto", with Ennio Morricone president. In 2012 Cascioli's orchestral work Trasfigurazione was awarded 1st Prize at the 1st Francesco Agnello Composition Competition: In 2013 Trasfigurazione will be performed 20 times throughout Italy by 15 different orchestras. www.gianlucacascioli.it

Ayant perdu à l'âge de quatre ans sa mère et à douze ans son père, le jeune Breton Paul Le Flem ne vécut que pour la musique, d'abord celle des bardes et du peuple marin, ensuite celle des offices religieux, enfin celle des opéras qu'il découvrit lorsqu'il passa son baccalauréat à Brest. Ayant appris grâce aux livres le solfège et l'harmonie, il envoya sa première partition / un poème symphonique intitulé « Eponine et Sabinus » / au compositeur et directeur du Conservatoire de Nancy, Guy Ropartz, qui l'encouragea. Déçu par l'académisme du Conservatoire de Paris, il se tourna vers les œuvres de Claude Debussy et de Nicolas Rimsky-Korsakov. Elève à la Schola Cantorum, il se perfectionna auprès de Vincent d'Indy et d'Albert Roussel, devint critique musical et, durant un siècle, ne cessera de composer. Ayant vécu 103 ans, Paul Le Flem laisse une œuvre abondante et variée d'où se dégagent les poèmes symphoniques « Orphée et Eurydice » (1897), « Les Voix du Large » (1911), « Pour les Morts » (1920), « Le Village » (1943) et « Jeux de mouettes » (1957), la « Symphonie n°1 en la majeur » (1908), le ballet en un acte « Kercado » (1933), une « Pièce de concert pour violon et orchestre » (1964) et la « Symphonie n°4 » (1974). Paul Le Flem a laissé de nombreuses partitions inédites dont un « Requiem » (1896), un « Lamento » pour chœur mixte a capella (1920), trois autres symphonies +••.••(...) et 1967) et des « Préludes pour orchestre » (1979). La période d'oubli qui le frappe semble s'estomper et l'on pourra sans doute bientôt apprécier à sa juste valeur cet « aquarelliste de la musique » (Michel Lemeu).
