Alexander Pirogov Mussorgsky Nikolai Golovanov Bolshoi 1949
(http•••) Russian bass Alexander Pirogov performs the death scene from Mussorgsky's "Boris Godunov." The Bolshoi Theater Orchestra and Chorus is conducted by Nikolai Golovanov. A condensed "concert version" of the opera was released on double 10" LPs by "The Musical Masterpiece Society Inc."/"The Opera Society" (cat. number M114-OP13). The recording was made in 1949. I had also planned to post the coronation scene but ran out of room on the CD during the transfer.
