Rompe amor questa cathena 0:06 Instrumental arrangement (recorder, lute, spinet, viol) 1:14 Rompe amor verses 1 & 2 (ATTB) Very little is known about the Italian composer Filippo de Lurano. Most likely this piece was written by Lurano around the time he was visiting Rome. It has been said that he may have been a personal favorite of the most powerful man in Rome at the time, Cesare Borgia. Lurano may have been inspired by the Cupid paintings of Raffaello Sanzio at the Villa Farnesina (or any number of other courtly love themed art works and songs popularized in that era). This short piece is a simple frottola that has been found in both a Venetian and Roman source printed during the first decade of the 16th century. The vocal simulation was created using the Vocaloid encoder and the Maika Spanish language module. The instrumental sounds were created using Music Studio 2 for the iPhone. Text: Rompe amor questa cathena (Cupid, tear apart this chain) Che seguirti piu non voglio (I don't want to follow you anymore) Poi chel fiero e crudo orgoglio (because her fierce and raw pride) De costei non se rafrena (will not be restrained) Tu sai ben che con tua fede (You know well that with faith in you) Vienni inforza de costei (I came to her door) Doncha sa como rechiede (So you know what is required) El tuo honor in segnor sei (It is your honor, you are Lord) Non voler che a un tempo lei (who does not want that [I have] a moment with her) Te dia incargo e ami gran pena (I trust in you and yet you love great punishment) Rompe amor...
