Zijn vader Hippolyte, organist (Notre-Dame de Termonde) en orgelbouwer, bracht hem in aanraking met muziek en het orgel. Clément speelde al orgel op zeven jarige leeftijd; een jaar later kon hij zijn vader als organist vervangen. In 1846 werd zijn vader aangesteld als organist in Bergen en zette de jonge Clément zijn muziekstudie voort bij Jules Denefve +••.••(...)). (http•••) Clément werd toegelaten tot het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel in 1851 en volgde er orgelles bij Lemmens en contrapunt bij Fétis. In 1855 kwam Loret naar Parijs met een introductiebrief van Lemmens geschreven aan Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, maar C. C. was niet onder de indruk van Clément en daarom stelde hij hem niet voor aan zijn kennissen. Clément kwam wel in contact met de harmonium bouwer Auguste Victor Mustel waar hij een tijdje gewerkt heeft. Daarna werd Clément organist bij Suresnes en Notre-Dame des Victoires. Daarna titulair van het nieuwe Cavaillé-Coll-orgel van de Nationale Basiliek gewijd aan St. Geneviève (nu Panthéon) tijdens het Tweede Franse Keizerrijk, van 1855 tot 1885. Tussen 1858 tot 1866 was Clément Loret ook organist van de Église Saint-Louis- d'Antin, waar Niederermeyer 'maître de Chapelle' was. Hij werd in 1858 benoemd tot leraar orgel aan de Niedermeyer-school in Parijs en leidde er beroemd geworden Franse organisten op, waaronder Fauré, Letocart en Gigout. Clément Loret stierf op 14 februari 1909 in Colombes, nabij Parijs. (http•••) ENGLISH This SCHERZO is a true jewel, beautifully composed and original in form Clement LORET was born in Dendermonde (Termonde) in Belgium. His father Hippolyte, organist (Notre-Dame de Termonde) and organ builder, introduced him to music and the organ. Clément already played the organ in the church at the age of seven; a year later he was also able to replace his father as organist. In 1846 his father was appointed organist in Mons and the young Clément continued his music studies with Jules Denefve +••.••(...)). Clément was admitted to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in 1851 and took organ lessons with Lemmens and counterpoint with Fétis. In 1855 Loret came to Paris with a letter of introduction from Lemmens written to Aristide Cavaillé-Coll, but C. C. was not impressed with Clément and so he did not introduce him to his acquaintances. Clément did come into contact with the harmonium builder Auguste Victor Mustel, where he worked for a while. Clément then became organist with Suresnes and Notre-Dame des Victoires. Then titular of the new Cavaillé-Coll organ of the National Basilica was dedicated to St. Geneviève (now Panthéon) during the Second French Empire, from 1855 to 1885. Between 1858 and 1866, Clément Loret was also organist at the Église Saint-Louis-d'Antin, where Niederermeyer was matre de Chapelle. He was appointed organ teacher at the Niedermeyer School in Paris in 1858, where he educated famous French organists, including Fauré, Letocart and Gigout.
