Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music Gabor Szabo, violinist Hungarian-born violinist Gabor Szabo is considered one of the most exciting young violinist of his generation. Born in 1974 in Budapest, Gabor started his violin studies at the age of seven. Winner of numerous national and international violin competitions. First Prize winner of the Budapest National Violin Competition, First Prize winner of the Zatureczky National Violin competition, First Prize winner at the International Chamber Music Competition in the string trio category (USA), Mr.Szabo received 2nd Prize and the Special Prize for the best Paganini caprice at the Carl Flesch International Violin Competition (Hungary) and 3th Prize at the Hubay National Violin Competition. From 1993 Mr Szabo has been a permanent soloist and recording artist of the Hungarian National Radio and has made more than 70 live recordings. His recitals are regulary broadcast by European television companies. Gabor Szabo has performed as soloist with many renowed orchestras,such as the Hungarian State Opera Orchestra, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the Dohnanyi Symphony Orchestra,Camerata Budapest Chamber Orchestra,Hungarian Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra,Meadows Symphony Orchestra,Chamber Orchestra of the Galicia,with such a conductors as Andras Ligeti,Janos Kovacs,Eduard Schmieder,Dmitri Loos,Gabor Hollerung,Adam Medveczky, Valeria Csanyi,Tamas Benedek,Zsolt Hamar among others.. In 1996 he performed by special invitation for Queen Beatrix of Holland. He is is regulary invited for international music festivals to Los Angeles by the Young Artists International (YAI) and also was invited as a soloist and chamber musician at the International Musicfestival in Finland (Maante). In 2003 he was invited to Saint Petersburg Music Festival as a soloist. Mr.Szabo also frequently performs at music festivals in Spain Gabor is known for his wide-ranging repertoire,extending from A.Vivaldi to contemporary composers. The renowed spanish composer, Jose Luis Greco, recently dedicated his work to Gabor Szabo which going to be premiered in 2011. As a recitalist,Gabor Szabo has performed more then fifteen european countrys, as well in the United States and South America. His duo partner is the italian pianist,chambermusician, Domenico Codispoti.(www.domenicocodispoti.com) Mr.Szabo was admitted to the Bela Bartok Conservatory Of Music at age 12 under the giudance of Jozsef Modrian (Former Concertmaster of the Hungarian State Symphony Orchestra) and later, Laszlo Kote,(violin soloist and former concertmaster of the Budapest State Opera). After receiving his soloist diploma from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, where he studied with Laszlo Kote and Eszter Perenyi,(violin soloist,Head of the String Department of the Ferenc Liszt Academy Of Music) Mr.Szabo moved to the United States with the recommendation of Boris Kushnir for further studies with Dr.Eduard Schmieder,(former Oistrakh student and a successor of Jascha Heifetz at UCLA)Head of the String Department at the Meadows School of Music and Arts,SMU in Dallas.His Chamber music teachers includes Sandor Devich(former violinist of the world famous Bartok Quartett) and Nathaniel Rosen cellist,(winner of the International Tchaikovski Competition in Moscow). Gabor Szabo also took masterclasses with such a violinist as: Rugiero Ricci,Zakhar Bron,Lorand Fenyves,Stefan Ruha,Denes Kovacs,Eduard Schmieder,Michael Frischenschlager among others. Gabor Szabo held position as a Concertmaster in the Budapest Symphony Orchestra,(MAV) and soon after he was appointed Concertmaster of Camerata Budapest Chamber Orchestra. From 1998-99 he held leader position in the Opera,Teatro Municipal, in Sao Paulo,Brasil and He was principal in Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia in La Coruna,Spain. Gabor Szabo frequently cooperates with orchestras as a concertmester in many european countrys. As a leader he has worked with many world famous conductor such as: Jean Jacques Kantorow,Vasily Petrenko,Rumon Gamba,Adam Medveczky,John Nelson,Andras Ligeti,Viktor Pablo Perez,Carlo Rizzi, Jesus Lopez Cobos,George Pehlivanian,Dmitry Loos,Jakub Hrusa among others.. His future engagments as a soloist will lead him to concert halls in Spain,Italy,Hungary and the USA From 2008 Mr.Szabo resides in Madrid,Spain. (http•••)
