Many of them now occupy leading playing and teaching positions in Israel and abroad, and are often invited to return to the Centre, this time as teachers and performers. Above all, this program, with its unique focus on chamber music, has revolutionized both the standards of chamber music making and its appreciation among music lovers in Israel. Some of Israel's most remarkable chamber groups, including the Jerusalem Quartet, the Ariel Quartet and the Jerusalem Trio, emerged from this program. Founded in Jerusalem in 1998, The Ariel String Quatet includes all four of its original members, allowing them to perform with the intensity and passion of a young quartet, and the conviction and cohesiveness of veterans. Dedicated to upholding the grand tradition of world class string quartet playing, the Ariel Quartet feels a deep connection to the staples of string quartet literature, including those of Beethoven, Schubert, Bartok, Mozart, and Haydn, while also understanding the importance of exploring music by living composers. The Quartet also believes in the enduring relevance of presenting great works in the traditional concert hall, while at the same time recognizing the power of chamber music to develop new audiences through programs in schools and in the community.
