Johann Sebastian Bach Bradley Smith Peter Harvey Ogden Blaze Exultate Singers 2022
Exultate Singers Bristol Ensemble Augusta Hebbert - soprano Martha McLorinan - alto Bradley Smith - tenor Peter Harvey - bass David Ogden - conductor Join Exultate Singers and professional orchestra the Bristol Ensemble for a performance of one of the greatest works in the choral repertoire – Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B Minor. A revealing cross section of Bach’s work, the Mass incorporates elements from compositions that span many years. It was developed and refined during the last years of his life to create a masterpiece of the Baroque era. From the majestically solemn opening Kyrie to the celebratory blaze of trumpets that concludes the final Dona nobis pacem, the Mass in B Minor expresses the full range of human emotions from intense sadness to joyful zest for life. In a stellar line up of soloists, soprano Augusta Hebbert, alto Martha McLorinan and tenor Bradley Smith join bass Peter Harvey to sing the work’s poignantly beautiful arias and duets. Exultate Singers has appeared on Classic FM, on BBC Radios 2, 3 and 4 and BBC television including The One Show and Songs of Praise, and is known for its consistently high quality, committed and engaging performances over nearly 20 years. Sir John Tavener Ogden Exultate Singers 2013
Exultate Singers performs 'Mother of God, here I stand' by the great British composer Sir John Tavener who died on 12 November 2013. The recording is taken from Exultate Singers' new album, A Sense of the Divine, to be released in December 2013 and was recorded in St George's Bristol Exultate Singers (http•••) David Ogden (http•••) Mother of God, here I stand now praying before this ikon of your radiant brightness, not praying to be saved from a battlefield; not giving thanks nor seeking forgiveness for the sins of my soul, nor for all the souls. Numb, joyless and desolate on earth; but for her alone, whom I wholly give you.
