Opera Company Philadelphia Keystone State Boychoir Georges Bizet 2011
(http•••) / On Saturday, April 2, 2011, 45 members of the Opera Company of Philadelphia's official children's choir, the Keystone State Boychoir, spontaneously performed "Avec la garde montante" from Georges Bizet's Carmen for delighted children and parents at the Please Touch Museum, a favorite Philadelphia destination for children of all ages. These talented young singers are members of the Commonwealth Youthchoirs, and have toured all over the world and performed in Opera Company of Philadelphia productions of Turandot, La boheme, and the April 2011 production of Tosca, among others. They were introduced by Brian Kuszyk, Principal Trumpet with the Opera Company Orchestra. This performance was one of 1,000 Random Acts of Culture taking place nationally over the next three years, funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Knight Foundation's Random Acts of Culture bring artists out of the performance halls and into the streets and our everyday lives. For more videos and information, visit RandomActsofCulture.org. Fisher.
On June 9, 2011, the Drakensberg Boys Choir from South Africa joined the Keystone State Boychoir for a musical sharing in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church of Germantown during their USA Tour 2011. After a program of superb singing by the Drakensberg choir, they joined together with KSB to sing, "I Need You To Survive."
