Orkiestra Dobbri - Diabelski tryl (Il Trillo del diavolo) Tango della seduzione dall'Operetta "Il trillo del diavolo" (Cuscinà), Parlophon 1928 (Recorded in Berlin; Polish pressing) NOTE: The composer of this tango is Alfredo Cuscinà (b. Messina, 1881 – d. Rome, 1955) - an Italian composer, mainly of the Operettas. His first score of the Operetta “Regina” was lost in 1908 during the terrible earthquake of Messina. In 1914 he successfully launched another Operetta “Venus” which was staged in Milan. His later works had their premieres predominantly in the Reinach Theatre in Parma. His best remembered works are two Tuscan Operettas “Stenterello” (1927) and “Calandrino” (1929). “The Devil's Trill” (Il Trillo del Diavolo) was on stage in 1929, also in Parma. The title tango was called “the tango of seduction” and gained some popularity in Europe in the turn of the 1920/30s. Dobbri Orchester (full name: Saxophon-Orchester Dobbri) was in the 1920s/1930s the popular German studio band for record industries grouped in Carl Lindstroem’s record company in Berlin (Gloria, Beka, Odeon, Parlophon). Led by Otto Dobrindt – the renowned German operetta and promenade music conductor – Dobbri Orchester became very popular on records and on air, as interpreter of huge number of the current hits for dancing in Germany and elsewhere, and using various nicknames (e.g. Odeon Tanz-Orchester, Wiener Bohème-Orchester, Eric Harden Tanz Orchester or Eddie Saxon Tanz Orchester).
