The blue stripe represents the eternal blue sky, and the red stripes thriving for eternity. The Soyombo symbol is a geometric abstraction that represents fire, sun, moon, earth, water, and a Taijitu symbol representing the duality of yin and yang. The current flag was adopted on 12 January 1992, with the current official colour standards being set on 8 July 2011. Until 1992, the flag had a communist star above the Soyombo, during the final 47 years of the Mongolian People's Republic. The flag was originally designed by artist Dodiin Choidog. It has been commonplace among Mongolians in the Inner Mongolia to hang the flag. Anthem: The national anthem of Mongolia, known before 1991 as the state anthem of the Mongolian People's Republic, was created in 1950 with music composed by Bilegiin Damdinsüren and Luvsanjambyn Mördorj and lyrics written by Tsendiin Damdinsüren. Since the early 20th century, Mongolia has had two national anthems: the first, used between 1924 and 1950, was called the "Mongol Internationale", with words by Sonombaljiryn Buyannemekh and music by Magsarjavyn Dugarjav. It is often incorrectly listed as the Mongolian-language version of "The Internationale", despite the two songs having almost nothing in common aside from similar names. "The Internationale" does have a Mongolian version, however, which should not be confused with the "Mongol Internationale".
