Il Gran Duo Italiano, composto dal violinista Mauro Tortorelli e dalla pianista Angela Meluso, ha tenuto in dieci anni di attività concerti in piú di 20 Paesi del mondo ed è stato insignito nel 2011 del Premio Mediterraneo dalle più alte cariche dell’Unione Europea per il lavoro di ricerca musicologica, riscoperta e valorizzazione del patrimonio artistico-musicale italiano. Da oltre 10 anni, infatti, il Gran Duo Italiano si occupa di riscoprire tesori musicali italiani e non, ingiustamente dimenticati, portando alla luce veri e propri tasselli mancanti della storia della musica. Itinerari Paganiniani «Virtuous, Diabolical, Contradictory» are the words we usually hear when debating about Nicolò Paganini. The music, for me, is the opportunity to talk, to tell about what's on the inside through the music. I am always eager to prove that, «virtuousity» in itself or a bunch of notes played in a split second, do not differentiate between an excellent musician and another. What, really distinguish is one's rich interior world, the desire to discover novelties, improve oneself, show one's emotion and a true passion for life. I am, absolutely, sure that, Paganini with his own language wanted to convey his feelings, sometimes pain, very often love, and he did it as we do, except that his richer and more contradictory inner self - a hopeless romantic - expresses with the scores instead with words. I have had the honour to convey my vision of his immense Op.1, with the 24 Caprices and the 4 Studies recently discovered, playing his violin the «SIVORI» specially made for the Great Maestro by J.B.Vuillaume. Niccolò Paganini’s 24 Caprices for solo violin is perhaps the most famous piece by the early Romantic Italian composer, and among the most well-known pieces of all Western classical music in general. Each Caprice, like an étude, exploited and pushed to the limit a different set of skills. When the Caprices were first released, Paganini dedicated the composition to “all artists” rather than any particular person; he would later add specific dedications to his friends and colleagues. C'est trop beau ..............:-)) J'espère que vous aimerez malgré le peu de souvenirs et d'hommages que l'on porte à cet Interpréte fantastique .... Zino Francescatti (né à Marseille le 9 août 1902 - mort à La Ciotat le 17 septembre 1991) était un violoniste et pédagogue français d'origine italienne. Ses parents étaient musiciens, son père - lui-même violoniste - avait appris son métier auprès de Camille Sivori, le meilleur élève de Niccolò Paganini. Zino Francescatti était un enfant prodige, qui se produisait en public avec le concerto de Beethoven à l'âge de dix ans ! Sa carrière, démarrée sous les meilleurs auspices, promettait une gloire sans pareille ; cependant, avec son départ pour les États-Unis avant la guerre et sa semi-retraite là-bas pendant la durée du conflit, elle fut quelque peu mise en veilleuse. Francescatti garda cependant intacte l'admiration de ses pairs, et il fut, surtout dans les années 1950, un virtuose mondialement demandé. La carrière de Zino Francescatti fut marquée par quatre autres artistes : Jacques Thibaud, qui le protégea et l'encouragea ; Maurice Ravel, dont il fut l'ami et l'interprète le plus fidèle (l'équivalent de Vlado Perlemuter pour le piano) ; Bruno Walter, qui le dirigea souvent et avec qui l'entente fut parfaite ; et Robert Casadesus, avec lequel il formait un duo de choix.
