These pieces play with complex rhythms, and are accompanied by cryptic or humorous poems, daring musicians to rise to the challenge. The repertoire requires intense and indepth rehearsals to reach a concert standard, and is rarely performed today. One of the side-effects of COVID-Lockdown has been the rise of digital home office for all lines of work. In the last six months the ensemble Musicke&Mirth has developed digital rehearsal techniques and has recorded this complex English repertoire online. The ensemble now meets for the first time after six months of „home office“ to present this astonishing repertoire to the public in a streaming concert. In the course of the evening we will provide you with more information about the music and its historical context, and tell you more about the unusual, difficult and sometimes hilarous situtions encountered during online rehearsal. Please join us for an evening of good music, lively rhythms and entertaining stories about musicians‘ lives during lockdown.
