Tikhon Khrennikov Vladimir Fedoseyev Igor Oistrakh Oistrakh 1976
Moscow RTV Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev. Igor Oistrakh as the violinist. I - Dithyramb: 0:00 II - Intermezzo: 2:29 III - Dance: 6:32 Khrennikov's "Three Pieces for Violin & Orchestra" was composed in 1976. Unfortunatelly we don't have more information about the piece. The first movement opens with a vivacious main theme presented by th violin, supported by a colourful orchestration. It is developed while the soloist perform virtuosistic techniques. A decided coda ends the movement. The second one begins with a lyrical theme presented by the clarinet. The soloist takes it and develops it passionatelly. The music reaches an expressive climax. A fade-out coda ends the movement. The third movement begins with a rhythmic Russian dance, presented by the violinist along with the orchestra. As in the first movement, the soloist performs virtuosistic techniques such as double-stops, chords and fast passages. A brilliant climax ends the work. Picture: Photograph of Tikhon Khrennikov. Tikhon Khrennikov Tchaikovsky Vladimir Fedoseyev Vadim Repin Leonid Kogan Igor Oistrakh Oistrakh Maxim Vengerov Ginsburg Martynov Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra Moscow Radio 1943 1959 1975
Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio conducted by Vladimir Fedoseyev. Vadim Repin as the violin soloist. I - Allegro con fuoco: 0:00 II - Andante espressivo: 8:11 III - Allegro agitato: 13:42 Khrennikov's Violin Concerto No.1 was composed between 1958-9, after a request of virtuoso Lenoid Kogan, a good friend of the composer and to whom the concerto is also dedicated. It was premiered in October 21 of 1959 by said soloist with the Grand Symphony Orchestra of the All-Union Radio and Television conducted by Kirill Kondrashin. The work was very well received, soon it being performed by Russian first-class violinists and orchestras. The first movement is structured in sonata form. It begins with a joyfull and lively main theme, presented by the soloist with virtuosism. It is contrasted by a deeply lyrical second theme, full of a Russian flavour. A short but vigorous development section takes place, reaching a climax with the main theme. Follows a compact virtuosistic cadenza for the soloist, recapitulating the second theme. There is no distinctive recapitulation section, it begin fused with the development. The main theme triumphally reappears, leading us to a brilliant coda. The second movement is structured in binary form. The first section opens with a widely lyrical main theme, presented by the soloist over the orchestra. It warmly and expressively unfolds, showing the composer's innate hability for melody. The music reaches an intense climax through an orchestral tutti. The second section begins with virtuosistic rhythmic theme introduced by the soloist, showcasing his skills. A lyrically beautiful coda ends the movement. The third movement is also structured in sonata form. After a trepidant opening, a devlishly difficult rhythmic theme is presented by the soloist, it is followed by a lyrical second theme. Follows a development section similar to a wild and untamed dance. A virtuosistic cadenza-like passage leads us to a brilliant coda that closes the work.
