François Clément Théodore Dubois Auguste Wiegand Wiegand 1837 1893 1924 2021
For Pentecost 13, 2021 François Clément Théodore Dubois (1837 –1924) was a Paris-based composer, organist (including at La Madeleine) and music teacher, born on 24th August - an anniversary two days after this Sunday’s service. Like so many of his eminent 19th and 20th century colleagues, he was organist at La Madeleine for several years. His book of ‘Twelve New Pieces for Organ’ was published in 1893; this ebullient March was the final piece in the collection, and was dedicated to the then hugely successful Sydney organist Auguste Wiegand. Little of Dubois’s music is performed nowadays except some of his organ repertoire: his Toccata and ‘March of the three Kings’ remain very popular. Produktionszeit: 11.03.2002-28.03.2002.
