CONCERTS IN CARE HAS GIVEN NEW MEANING TO THE IDEA OF “CONCERTS IN THE HOME.” (http•••) Concerts in Care brings professional musicians into seniors’ homes, long-term care, and assisted living facilities across Ontario, to bring the joy and stimulation of live music to our senior, and often frail, population who can no longer get to concert venues. Since 2011, Concerts in Care Ontario has provided almost 1,200 concerts, touching 56,000 seniors’ audience members, and providing 2,400 performer engagements in Ottawa, Pembroke, Toronto, Sudbury and London, ON. Concerts in Care performers are often chosen from major performing arts organizations and they are paid for their work. For programming interest and to keep costs within manageable parameters, CiC presents a mixture of solos, duos, trios, and quartets in each facility. Our current associate partners include the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Opera Atelier, Ottawa Chamberfest, Toronto Summer Music Festival, Glenn Gould School, University of Ottawa, and Sudbury Symphony Orchestra.
