Heinrich Schütz Bach Marsh McCormack Moran Washington Bach Consort 1650 2022
From Heinrich Schütz’s Symphoniae Sacrae III published in 1650, we offer this excerpt from his motet, “Herr, wie lang willst du mein so gar vergessen?” (SWV 416), a setting of Psalm 13 for 6 voices, strings, and basso continuo. A later work in Schütz's oeuvre, it brings together his finest rhetorical skills as a composer.
