Sydney Nicholson Nicholson Shepherd 1933
From a 78rpm pressing. One of a series of 78s issued by Sir Sydney Nicholson during the 1930s, in which he used his choir to demonstrate the “correct” method of singing Anglican chant with natural speech rhythms. Sir Sydney edited the 'Parish Psalter' which was the first to use speech rhythm. He also recorded a 78rpm record, which is on this Archive, explaining how to sing the psalms. 1. Psalm 121: I will lift up mine eyes (Turle) 2. Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd (Turle) 3. Psalm 29: Bring unto the Lord O ye mighty (Attwood) 4. Psalm 133: Behold how good and joyful (Goss)
