Februar 1810." Robert Eitner, "Rembt, Johann Ernst", in: Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie (1889), S. 197-198. (Rembt starb 1810. Die Angabe "1811" im Video ist ein Irrtum.) a_osiander(at)gmx.net / www.andreas-osiander.net "Johann Ernst R., an organ virtuoso and composer...famous and much celebrated in the 18th century....He was born at Suhl in...1749....He showed great musical gifts already at a young age, and the study of the works of Sebastian Bach preserved him from the shallowness then prevailing in organ playing and compositional style. In 1768 he set out to travel and performed both on the piano and the organ. He toured Holland and France and caused much excitement in particular in Paris on account of his outstanding technique....In 1773 he obtained the post of organist at the main church of his hometown of Suhl and from then on lived a solitary life wholly dedicated to composing works for the organ, of which he produced a great quantity. Between 1787 and 1797 five volumes of compositions for the organ, mainly aimed at practical ends, appeared with Breitkopf in Leipzig, among them a method of organ playing, fughettas and chorale preludes. By contrast, his larger compositions only existed as manuscripts, of which Gerber in his encyclopedia of 1813 provides a detailed catalogue. Gerber incidentally must have known the correspondence between R. and C.P.E. Bach in Hamburg, for he concludes from Rembt's letters that he must have been an educated man. He died at Suhl on 26 February 1810." Robert Eitner, "Rembt, Johann Ernst", in: Allgemeine Deutsche Biographie (1889), S. 197-198, trans. a.o. (Rembt died in 1810. The date "1811" given in the video is erroneous.)
