Tchaikovsky Thomas Wilkins Holland Performing Arts Center 1812
From the “cannon” booms of Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture to the soaring strings of Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries, the Omaha Symphony will present a rousing program of the most popular, exhilarating, and grand orchestral blockbusters in Symphonic Blockbusters, Saturday, March 14, 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, March 15, 2 p.m., at the Holland Performing Arts Center. Conducted by Music Director Thomas Wilkins, Symphonic Blockbusters will feature a veritable “who’s who,” or rather a “what’s what,” of the most recognizable classical music. The concert program includes music that has been featured in films, commercials, cartoons, and television shows, and has become a part of popular culture. Tickets to Symphonic Blockbusters start at $19, and can be purchased by visiting www.omahasymphony.org or calling Ticket Omaha at 402.345.0606. Student Rush tickets are available one hour prior to the concert. Any student with a valid student ID may purchase up to two Student Rush tickets for $10 each.
Beethoven Holland Performing Arts Center 2018
The Omaha Symphony will open the 2018/19 season with the most famous four-note motif in music history with Beethoven’s Fifth, Friday and Saturday, September 21 & 22, 7:30 p.m., at the Holland Performing Arts Center. Beethoven Brahms Thomas Wilkins Stephen Hough James Lee III Holland Performing Arts Center 2014 2015
The Omaha Symphony will end its 2014/2015 season with a program featuring two of classical music’s brightest stars in Beethoven and Brahms, Friday, June 5, and Saurday, June 6, 7:30 p.m., at the Holland Performing Arts Center. Led by Music Director Thomas Wilkins, Beethoven and Brahms features the sunniest and most exuberant of Brahms’ symphonies, his Symphony No. 2 in D Major, and Beethoven’s groundbreaking and brilliant Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major, performed by pianist Stephen Hough. The program will also include James Lee III’s Sukkot Through Orion’s Nebula. Tickets to Beethoven and Brahms start at $19.
