Mozart Blackburn Sheffield Anton Stadler Carlos Miguel Prieto Prieto Beethoven Wagner Falla Hallé Sheffield City Hall 2019
Our Principal Clarinet, Sergio Castelló López, will be performing Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in our February 2019 Opus One series concerts. Thursday 14 February 2019 Sunday 17 February 2019 Wednesday 20 February 2019 At The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester Friday 15 February 2019 At King George's Hall, Blackburn Saturday 16 February 2019 At Sheffield City Hall The Concerto was written for Anton Stadler, hugely respected despite Mozart’s nickname for him: ‘old redcurrant face’. It was tailored to exploit Stadler’s virtuosity, celebrated singing tone and love of the instrument’s rich lower register. Conductor Carlos Miguel Prieto brings his panache to bear on Beethoven’s exhilarating Seventh Symphony, a work described by Wagner as ‘the apotheosis of the dance’. The concert opens with Falla’s remarkably beautiful El amor brujo. - The Hallé is delighted to present its first full season of Manchester concerts for three years. From September 2022 to June 2023, the orchestra will feature a rich and diverse mix of music and artists with programmes to delight, inspire, illuminate and surprise.
