Woodhouse Saunders Mozart Woodland Woodhouse Copse 2014
Monika Saunders puts on Music at Woodhouse, and this year it's Mozart's Magic Flute, performed on Saturday 6th September 2014. The address is: Woodhouse Copse, Holmbury St. Mary Surrey RH56NL, England. The estate has extensive grounds for picnicking before the performance starts, a woodland in which the stage and amphitheatre seating is located, and a small lake which always features in the opera performances and adds a lovely touch of drama to the magical setting - in this clip you can see a boat arriving, bringing performers to the stage. It is a Grade II listed building,[1] known for its gardens, originally planted by garden designer Gertrude Jekyll, and for the country house opera performed by Woodhouse Opera at the annual Woodhouse Summer Opera Festival. The owner Monika Saunders converted an indoor swimming pool into a concert room and created a lakeside amphitheatre for opera. [8] Besides the annual opera festival, concerts are held throughout the year. There is a focus on using young performers,[9] including some drawn from the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music.[7]
