Please call me a dickhead here: @PrancingNerd "Greatest Of All Time" Scenes - Brubaker (1980). Watch Yahpet Kotto (Coombes) become as scary as scary can be when Huey (Tim McIntire) says something silly and ignites the fury. Bring spare underwear. Edward Elgar Henry Geehl Buck Ness 1884 1885 1976
Idylle is a piece for violin and piano composed by Edward Elgar in 1884, as his Op.4, No.1. It was Elgar's first published work. It is dedicated to "Miss E. E., Inverness", and was first published by Beare & Son in 1885. John Beare was the brother-in-law of Elgar's friend Dr. Charles Buck. Elgar was an unmarried man of 27 when he met the "Miss E. E." of the dedication whilst on holiday in Scotland in the summer of 1884. He recorded four meetings with her in a diary, but did not reveal her name: the first meeting was on a loch boat to Oban, and the final meeting was at Inverness, with flowers from him before a last adieu. The work was composed when he returned home from the holiday. It is performed here in in Henry Geehl's orchestration in a vintage 1976 cassette recording by the Orchestra of Thames Valley College, Twickenham, conducted by Angela Sleeman. The illustration, from a postcard, shows the General Well's Suspension Bridge over the River Ness in Inverness.
