Welcome to Opera San Luis Obispo's "Memorable Performances" Episode 4! We hope you enjoy this series created to make your COVID-19 mandatory quarantine a bit more enjoyable. Please consider making a donation to OperaSLO here: (http•••) Butterfly's husband Pinkerton has been gone for years when suddenly a cannon shot is heard. Butterfly and her servant Suzuki rush to the door to look at the harbor; it is Pinkerton’s ship and Butterfly’s love is vindicated. As the two ladies fill the room with flowers they sing what is perhaps Puccini's most hopeful and happy music ever; "tutti i fior" (all the flowers), or what is better known as the "Flower Duet from Butterfly". This Memorable Performance is from OperaSLO's full production of Madama Butterfly, by Giacomo Puccini, which took place at Miossi Hall in Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo on October 14th and 15th, 2017. Soprano Rena Harms sings the role of Butterfly, with mezzo soprano Karin Mushegain as Suzuki. This performance was stage directed by Edna Garabedian with choreography by Drew Silvaggio. The Opera San Luis Obispo Grand Orchestra is conducted by Brian Asher Alhadeff, Artistic and General Director. The complete performance is available for purchase by visiting (http•••) where you can also purchase other past OperaSLO productions.
