Allegro 32:30 USSR Radio Symphony Orchestra Boris Khaikin, conductor Alexander Fyodorovich Goedicke +••.••(...)) was a Russian composer and pianist. Goedicke was a professor at Moscow Conservatory. With no formal training in composition, he studied piano at the Moscow Conservatory with Galli, Pavel Pabst and Vasily Safonov. Goedicke won the Anton Rubinstein Competition in 1900. Despite his lack of traditional guidance, his compositional efforts were rewarded when he won the Rubinstein Prize for Composition at the young age of 23. Goedicke died at the age of 80 on 9 July 1957.

Pianista russo (Ielets, governatorio di Orel, 14/26 Febbraio 1892) / Grantown-on-Spey, Inverness, Scozia, 31 Maggio 1964). Iniziato alla musica dalla madre, studiò privatamente pianoforte con V. I. Safonov, quindi fu allievo di K. Igumnov, nel Conservatorio di Mosca mentre si applicava allo studio della composizione come allievo privato di A. S. Taneev. Esordì come pianista a Mosca nel 1912; due anni dopo sosteneva un recital dinanzi allo zar, cosa che gli schiudeva una intensa attività concertistica. Insegnante della Scuola Superiore di Musica della Società Filarmonica +••.••(...)), nel 1917 fu chiamato a tenere una cattedra di pianoforte nel conservatorio moscovita; tre anni dopo, approfittando di una tournée all'estero, lasciò la Russia insieme con Glazunov (di cui suonò in Prima Esecuzione il Primo Concerto per pianoforte), per non tornarvi più. In seguito prese residenza a Parigi, svolgendo però attività concertistica internazionale, tenendo concerti con particolare successo in Jugoslavia, Belgio, Polonia, e in Inghilterra. Nel 1926 intraprese la sua prima tournée americana. Nel 1933 ha tenuto una serie di concerti di Chopin a Londra. Nel periodo bellico rifiutò di suonare nei paesi occupati dai nazisti e soltanto nel dopoguerra si ripresentò a Parigi e in Olanda. Fu spesso attivo con direttori quali W. Mengelberg, O. Klemperer, P. Monteux. Nel 1948 si stabilì in Gran Bretagna e trascorse gli ultimi anni nella sua tenuta scozzese di Inverness. Egli è stato particolarmente notato come interprete di Chopin, Schumann e Skryabin.
