Introduction to fraudulent survivor claims of the Battle of the Little Bighorn. Errata 1: I say at one point that Benteen was sent to the "west." Although his movements have not been comprehensively mapped, it is known that Captain Benteen traveled to the south or southeast of the village after Custer split his unit. He only turned west on his route to unite with Major Reno. I apologize for the error. Errata 2: I say Custer split his command into three regiments at 56 seconds. Allen Heaps kindly pointed out the error. It should be "battalions," not "regiments." I'm not sure why I said that. I served in 1/8 Cav and know better than confusing regiment with a battalion. My apologies. ZELMIRA Opera seria in 2 atti Composer: Gioachino Rossini (1792–1868) Libretto: Andrea Leone Tottola, after Dormont de Belloy’s play ‘Zelmire’ (1762) SETTING: Lesbos, after the Trojan Wars PLOT: Zelmira is the daughter of Polidoro, king of Lesbos, who was overthrown by Azor, tyrant of Mytilene, while her husband Ilo, prince of Troy, was fighting in the Trojan Wars. Azor thought he had murdered Polidoro, but Zelmira is keeping him safe in the royal mausoleum. Antenore has murdered Azor and, with Leucippo’s help, hopes to frame Zelmira for Azor and Polidoro’s deaths and seize the throne. Ilo returns, and believes Antenore’s story. Antenore is crowned King of Lesbos. Zelmira stops Leucippo from murdering Ilo, but, found holding the dagger, is accused of trying to assassinate her husband and is imprisoned.
