Si tratta, dunque d'un lavoro che s'inserisce nel filone più avanzato della produzione culturale di quell'epoca. Violin virtuosoVILHELMAS ČEPINSKIS and pianist LINA SATKUTE perform Variations on an Original Theme by Henryk Wieniawski for Sir Yehudi Menuhin. (1998). Vilhelmas Čepinskis is a violin virtuoso. conductor and founder of The Camerata Klaipeda. He was born in Kaunas, Lithuania on March 19,1977. He began violin studies with his father as a young boy. In 1984 at the age of seven, he made his solo concert debut at Kaunas Philharmonic Hall. in 1987 he made his solo debut with the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1988 he won first prize at The International Kocian Violin Competition in the Czech Republic, In 1989 he won the nationwide U.S.S.R. competition and became the laureate of the New Names Fund. Vilhelmas Čepinskis studied at The Julliard School with the renowned teacher, Dorothy DeLay and later at the Lithuanian Academy of Music with Stanislovas Čepinskis (graduating in 1999). The violinist has collaborated with some of the most prominent performers in the world: Vladimir Spivakov, Yuri Bashmet and Gidon Kremer. In1998 he toured United States of America together with the pianist William Thomas Smiddy. The violinist has performed in many of the most renowned concert halls of the world: The Tilles Center (New York), Carnegie Hall (New York), Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), The Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory and has given innumerable solo recitals and concerts with orchestras all over Europe, the Dominican Republic and the United States of America. Mr. Čepinskis has appeared at many international music festivals: Meranofest, Ankara, Westfold, Pažaislis and Vilnius festivals. By personal invitation of the legendary violinist, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Čepinskis performed with the London Symphony Orchestra. He also performed during the official visits of the Queen of Sweden and the Norwegian Royal Family to Lithuania as well as on the occasion of Lithuania's induction into the United Nations in 1991. Mr. Čepinskis is a frequent soloist with The Lithuanian National Philharmonic and has participated in the Philharmonic seasons opening and closing concerts which are always televised live on the national television network. The violinist has recorded five compact discs that demonstrate a comprehensive repertoire of classical violin music. Numerous awards have proved the quality of his performances. In 1991 he was awarded the Mariapia Fanfani Fund medal "Together for Peace", which was presented by the Queen of Spain, in 2003 the President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus awarded him with the Cross of the Knight for his service to the country.
