Orphei Drängar Kiel Johann Christian Friedrich Haeffner 1812 1814 1815

My first Vocaloid upload in Swedish (also first-appearance of Len and Luka in my vids). Mind you, I would have made the Finnish version but, because of copyright issues, I had to make the Swedish version. (Only the Swedish lyrics are old enough to be published.) Vocaloid Choir: Soprano: Miku Alto: Luka Tenor: Len Bass: Mikuo Song info: Name: Carl XII:s marsch vid Narva Finnish: Narvan marssi English: Narva March Composer: Unknown, probably of Irish origin Arrangement: Johann Christian Haeffner Lyrics: Erik Gustaf Geier You can find the full poem here: (http•••) Finnish translation: Alpo Noponen English translation by me. Please, feel free to give me suggestions to improve my translation! Info: ( Wikipedia (in Finnish): (http•••) ) As far as is known, this march was played during the battle of Narva, (Wikipedia: (http•••) ) in which Carl XII, the king of Sweden, utterly defeated the considerably larger Russian army. There was a heavy snowfall that day, so the Swedish troops marched to this slow march. In 1818, Erik Gustaf Geier wrote lyrics for the march to honor the 100th anniversary of king Carl XII:s death. In Finland, this march is always played during military funerals. It has been played in civilian funerals, as well, such as the funeral of president Kekkonen. Development history: I started working on the song on the 3rd of July and roughly managed to finish the notes and lyrics. I wanted to try out my new Vocaloids (Rin, Len and Luka), so Rin would have naturally been the soprano. Well, I tried using her at first, but she sounded too nasal and fuzzy compared to good ol' trusty Miku, so I switched her. (Don't worry, Rin! I'll let you sing a song, one day.) :D I started fine-tuning on July the 5th, which took me a lot of time. Actually, it was the first time I really used the clearness and brightness parameters of Vocaloid, but I think it turned out quite nice. :) After the Vocaloid work, I edited the sound with Audacity (compression and reverb). Making the video took most of the time, again. I used Lipsync, but I had to manually fine-tune the mouth movements to make it look good. I made the background with GIMP (I drew Mikuo by modifying Miku). Finally, I combined the video and music with Windows Movie Maker. NOTE +••.••(...)): I think I made Miku sing too passionately at the end of the song. She is too loud and her vibrato's so over the top that it gets annoying. Well, at least now I know where to improve. :)

Karl XII:s marsch vid Narva. "Viken, tidens flyktiga minnen!
